If you are planning a trip to Madulkelle, the best route to take is through Kandy -> Madawala -> Panvila -> Madulkelle. As you pass Panvila, you’ll be greeted by endless stretches of lush green tea plantations on both sides of the road, sometimes covered in a magical mist that adds to the charm of the tour.

Hatale Mini World’s End is one of the most amazing viewpoints in Sri Lanka. From here, you can see the beautiful, green Knuckles Mountain Range stretching far and wide.

There are two ways to reach Hatale Mini World’s End. The shortest route is ideal for motorbikes and involves a short but scenic hike through tea plantations. However, the path is quite narrow and can be challenging. It’s better for hike or ride a bike.

The second route is Easier-to-use. it features a well-paved road suitable for cars up to the Richland Estate. From there, you can park your vehicle and walk approximately 1.5 km to the viewpoint. If you have a motorbike or a 4x4 vehicle, you can drive all the way to the destination without stopping.

Route Option 01: First route can be found in the Hatale small town which you can meet after passing panvila, infornt of Hatale tea factory.

Route Option 02: To access the second route, start from Madulkelle town and turn left onto the Madulkelle–Habaragala road. As you begin your journey, you’ll pass the Madulkelle Hospital and after 3Kms Madulkelle Tea & Eco Lodge entrance road. Continue for about 7 km until you reach Richland estate.

In some areas, you may need to give way to oncoming vehicles, or even reverse to make space. Because final 3-4 km is quite narrow, so two vehicles cannot pass each other at the same time.

Once you reach the viewpoint, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of Gombaniya, Yakungehela, Rathnagiri mountains and the Knuckles Mountain Range, Dumbanagala, Yahangala, Kehelpaththoruwa, Lakegala, and even the remote village of Meemure. You can also see the first road far below, winding through the hills and the Victoria reservation. Hatale Mini World’s End is one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the region. #2 Kellebokka 360 View Point

The Kelebokka 360 Viewpoint is a stunning location that offers an all-around panoramic view of the surrounding hills and forests. It is an ideal spot for engaging both sunrise and sunset, offering mesmerizing views of Matale, Sembuwatta, the Knuckles Mountain Range, Bathalegala, Piduruthalagala, and Riverston.

Route Option: From Madulkelle town, continue along the Madulkelle–Kabaragala road for about 7 km until you reach the Kelebokka turning point on your left. The remaining 4 km road is rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

However, if you enjoy trekking, you can hike the route in early morning with more energy while admiring the breathtaking scenery. This is a private estate, so an entrance ticket may be required.

#3 Huluganga Waterfall

To visit the Huluganga Waterfall, head to Huluganga town on the Wattegama–Bambarella Road. This beautiful waterfall is easily visible from the roadside, but if you want a closer look, you can buy a ticket and walk about 50 meters to reach its base.

#4 Alakola Estate

A hidden gem in Madulkelle, Alakola Estate offers breathtaking views of rolling tea plantations and misty mountains. This is an excellent place for a peaceful walk or a photography session. To get there, take the small road on the left after passing Huluganga Waterfall with the Huluganga Bridge in the town, if you’re coming from Wattegama side. From this turn, it’s just a 2 km drive, and the road is suitable for cars.

#5 Thaliya Wetuna Ella Waterfall

Thaliya Wetunu Ella, also known as Alakola Waterfall, originates from the upper part of the Huluganga Waterfall. Located near Alakola Estate, you need to continue 2 km past the estate and then hike about 1 km to reach this stunning scenery.

#6 Jodu Ella Waterfall

Continuing along the Bambarella Road from Huluganga town, after about 5 km, you’ll come across Jodu Ella. This twin waterfall, also known as Bambara Ella or Knuckles Waterfall, is a captivating sight to behold.

#7 Saree Ella

Saree Ella, located in the scenic village of Goomare, is another breathtaking waterfall worth visiting. From Huluganga town, travel 7 km along the Bambarella Road and turn left near Knuckles Tamil Vidyalaya. A 1 km concrete road leads to the waterfall, accessible by any vehicle. Once you arrive, you’ll be mesmerized by the cascading waters like a saree flowing amidst lush greenery.

#8 Lebonan Ella

Lebonan Ella is nestled in Goomera Estate. To get there, take the Huluganga–Bambarella road, pass Hagala Junction, and turn left after a small bridge. Continue past Liyangala Estate housing to reach this serene and isolated waterfall.

#9 Hiking in the Knuckles Mountain Range

For adventure seekers, Madulkelle is a gateway to some of the best hiking trails in the Knuckles Mountain Range. If you’re up for a challenge, consider hiking to Gombaniya, Thunhisgala, or the Knuckles Five Peaks.
